Eligibility Criteria (as on 27.02.2026)

Educational Qualification A candidate must possess one of the following qualifications:
  1. 10+2 Examination from a recognized Board of School Education/University.
    OR

  3. Three-year Diploma in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/IT from a Polytechnic approved by AICTE.
Domicile Condition: The candidate must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 from any School/Institution located within Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply to Bonafide Himachalis.
Skill Qualification Computer typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi. (Visually impaired and certain differently-abled persons are exempted as per rules).
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)
  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 45 Years
  • Age Relaxation: An upper age limit relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and other categories who are domiciles of Himachal Pradesh, as per government rules.
Desirable Qualification Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions of the state.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted in two main stages. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks of the first stage only.

  1. Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) / Written Screening Test: All eligible candidates will appear for an objective-type screening test worth 120 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 45% for the General category and 40% for reserved categories (relaxable by 5% if needed).
  2. Stage 2: Typing Skill Test: Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be shortlisted for a Typing Skill Test. The number of candidates shortlisted will be four times the number of advertised posts. This test is mandatory and qualifying in nature.
  3. Final Merit and Document Verification: The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the CBT for those candidates who qualify for the Typing Skill Test. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for document verification.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The examination will consist of an objective test followed by a skill test.

Computer Based Test (CBT) Pattern:

  • Mode: Objective type with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Total Questions: 120.
  • Total Marks: 120 (Each question carries 1 mark).
  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes).

Syllabus for the CBT:

  1. Syllabus related to Computer Science/Computer Application/IT/ITES/IP as prescribed in the essential qualifications.
  2. Subjects of 10+2 level as per the basic educational qualification.
  3. General Knowledge: Including General Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh and Current Affairs.
  4. Other Subjects: Everyday Science, Logical Reasoning, Social Science, General English, and General Hindi of Matric Standard.

Typing Skill Test Pattern:

  • Speed Requirement: 30 words per minute in English OR 25 words per minute in Hindi.
  • Nature: The test is mandatory and qualifying. No marks from this test will be added to the final merit list.

PET (Physical Efficiency Test)

There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) or Physical Standard Test (PST) for the post of Junior Office Assistant (IT).
