Selection Process
The selection process for all the advertised posts will be conducted in two main stages.
- Screening Examination: An objective-type screening examination will be conducted to shortlist candidates for the interview. The Commission may hold this test if the number of applicants is large.
- Interview: Candidates who qualify in the screening examination will be called for a personal interview.
- Final Merit List: The final selection will be based on a merit list prepared by adding the marks obtained in the screening examination and the interview. The weightage will be 75% for the Screening Test and 25% for the Interview.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The Screening Examination will be an objective-type (MCQ) test. The detailed syllabus for each post will be issued by the commission in due course. However, a general pattern can be expected.
- Mode of Exam: Objective Type (OMR-based or CBT).
- Key Feature: There will be negative marking for wrong answers. For each incorrect answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
- Syllabus: The syllabus will primarily consist of two parts:
- General Studies: This section will cover topics like History of India, Indian National Movement, Geography, Polity, Economy, Current National and International Events, General Science, and basic aptitude.
- Subject-Specific Paper: This will be the main paper, with questions based on the essential academic qualification for the post (e.g., questions from the B.V.Sc. & A.H. syllabus for Veterinary Officer, B.D.S. syllabus for Dental Surgeon, etc.).
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must secure a minimum of 40% (for General/EWS/OBC) and 35% (for SC/ST) in the screening test to be considered for the merit list.
PET (Physical Efficiency Test)
There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) or Physical Standard Test (PST) for any of the posts mentioned in this advertisement.
How to Prepare for the Exam
A focused preparation strategy is essential to succeed in this high-level competitive examination.
- Strengthen Your Core Subject: The subject-specific paper will be the most crucial part of the screening test. Thoroughly revise all subjects from your graduate/post-graduate degree as per the post's requirement.
- Prepare General Studies: Dedicate daily time to studying General Studies. Focus on static GK and stay updated with current affairs, especially those relevant to Uttar Pradesh.
- Practice with Negative Marking: Solve as many mock tests and previous year papers of UPPSC as possible. Practice answering questions carefully to minimize errors, as there is a 1/3rd negative marking.
- Interview Preparation: For the interview, be prepared to answer in-depth questions about your domain knowledge, your profile, and your suitability for the government role.
Best Books for Preparation
Candidates should refer to their academic textbooks and standard GS guides.
