Selection Process

The selection process for these non-teaching posts at IISER Tirupati will be rigorous and merit-based. The Institute reserves the right to adopt different selection methodologies depending on the post and the number of applications received.

  1. Shortlisting: The first step will be the screening of all applications received. Where the number of applications is large, the Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for the selection process to a reasonable limit. This shortlisting may be done on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, candidates are advised to furnish full details of all their qualifications and experience.
  2. Selection Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for the selection process, which may include one or more of the following:
    • Written Test: A written examination may be conducted to test the candidate's subject knowledge, general aptitude, and analytical skills.
    • Skill Test / Trade Test: For posts requiring specific skills (e.g., Junior Office Assistant, Private Secretary, Technical Assistants), a practical test may be conducted to evaluate proficiency.
    • Interview / Personality Test: For Group A and other senior posts, a personal interview will be a crucial part of the selection process to assess the candidate's suitability, leadership qualities, and domain knowledge.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates qualifying in the selection test must produce original certificates for verification. Any discrepancy between the uploaded documents and the originals will lead to the cancellation of candidature.

Exam Pattern

The Institute has not specified a fixed exam pattern for the written test. However, if a written test is conducted, it is expected to be an objective-type (MCQ) examination. The syllabus will be based on the essential qualifications for the post. A general pattern might include:

  • Part A (General Aptitude): Questions on General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General English, and General Awareness.
  • Part B (Domain Knowledge): Questions specific to the role and the required qualification (e.g., questions on Civil Engineering for the AEE post, questions on Biology/Chemistry for Lab Assistant posts, questions on Central Government Rules for administrative posts).

The detailed scheme of the examination, if conducted, will be uploaded on the Institute's website. Candidates are advised to monitor the website regularly.

PET

There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) or Physical Standard Test (PST) required for any of these non-teaching posts. The selection is based on academic qualifications, experience, and performance in the selection tests.
