How to Prepare for the WBSEDCL Exam

Success in the WBSEDCL exam requires a strategic approach. Here are some important preparation tips:

  1. Focus on Domain Knowledge: 50 out of 85 marks (nearly 60% of the CBT) will be from your core subject (Electrical Engineering or HR/Finance). Therefore, thoroughly revise your diploma/degree notes and fundamental concepts. For JE (Electrical), focus on subjects like Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Network Theory, and Measurements. For AM, focus on your MBA/CA/CMA curriculum.
  2. Master Computer Skills: 10 marks are allocated for computer proficiency, specifically focusing on MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Memorize shortcut keys and practice basic functions.
  3. Prepare for the Language Test: 10 marks are for the Bengali or Nepali language test. If you are from outside West Bengal, you must work on your Bengali grammar and vocabulary to clear this section.
  4. Be Mindful of Negative Marking: Since there is a 0.33 negative marking for each incorrect answer, avoid guesswork. Attempt only those questions you are confident about.
  5. Practice Mock Tests: For time management (85 questions in 90 minutes), take online mock tests and solve previous years' question papers. This will help you identify your weak areas and improve your speed and accuracy.

Service Bond

Selected candidates will have to execute a service bond to serve the company for a minimum period of 4 years (1 year probation + 3 years service).

  • Assistant Manager: ₹ 3,00,000/- (Three Lakhs)
