Eligibility Criteria: Education, Age, and Physical Standards

Educational Qualification

The candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree (Graduate) or an equivalent qualification from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

Important Tip:
  • Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in an examination, the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission's examination but have not been informed of the results, will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination.
  • It will be mandatory for such candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission for the State Service Main Examination to submit proof of passing the requisite examination along with their application for the Main Examination.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025)

For Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP):

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 28 years

For Other Posts:

  • Maximum Age: 30 years (35 years for domiciles of Chhattisgarh)

Selection Process: A Three-Tiered Examination

FAQs - CGPSC State Service Exam 2025

Question 1: Can final-year students apply?
Yes, final-year students can appear for the preliminary examination, but they must provide proof of passing the degree along with the application for the Main Examination.
Question 2: Can candidates from other states apply?
Yes, but they will be considered only under the unreserved category and will not get any age relaxation. Reservation benefits are only for the domiciles of Chhattisgarh.
Question 3: Is there negative marking in the preliminary exam?
Yes, 1/3rd of the marks (0.33) will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Question 4: How many candidates will be selected for the Main Examination?
