Selection Process
The selection process for the Technician-I post is a comprehensive, multi-stage process designed to meticulously test the practical skills and theoretical knowledge of the candidates to ensure the best fit for the roles.
- Screening of Applications: In the first stage, all online applications received within the deadline will be scrutinized by a duly constituted Screening Committee. The committee may adopt its own criteria, which could be stricter than the minimum qualifications, to shortlist a reasonable number of candidates for the next stage.
- Trade Test: The shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear for a Trade Test in their respective trade. This test is designed to assess the hands-on, practical skills and proficiency of the candidate. The Trade Test will be qualifying in nature, meaning candidates must pass this test to be eligible for the next stage, but the marks obtained will not be counted for the final merit list.
- Competitive Written Examination: Candidates who successfully qualify in the Trade Test will be called for the final stage, which is a Competitive Written Examination. The final merit list and the selection of candidates will be prepared based solely on the marks obtained in this written examination.
Exam Pattern
The Competitive Written Examination will be an OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination. The standard of the exam will be SSC + ITI / 12th Standard. The exam will consist of three papers conducted in a single session.

*Mental Ability Test (Paper-I) will include General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, and Situational Judgement. It is a qualifying paper. Paper-II and Paper-III will only be evaluated for those candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I, which will be determined by the Selection Committee.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in Paper-II and Paper-III only.
PET
There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) or Physical Standard Test (PST) required for this recruitment. The selection process is focused on technical and mental abilities.

- Master Your Trade (for Trade Test and Paper-III): The most crucial part of your preparation should be your ITI trade. Paper-III carries 150 marks and will be the deciding factor. Thoroughly revise your entire ITI syllabus. Focus on both theoretical concepts and their practical applications. For the Trade Test, practice hands-on skills related to your trade.
- Strengthen Mental Ability (for Paper-I): Paper-I is qualifying but essential. Practice Quantitative Aptitude (maths up to 10th standard) and Reasoning questions regularly from standard competitive exam books. Since there is no negative marking in this paper, your strategy should be to attempt all 50 questions with the best possible accuracy.
- Prepare for General Sections (for Paper-II): For General Awareness, stay updated with current affairs, basic science, history, geography, and polity. For English, focus on basic grammar, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, and reading comprehension.
